tion of Jilin Boxiao Northeast Tigers Basketball Club
History
Jilin Men’s Basketball Team was founded in 1956, and as a powerful force, it has a marvelous history. The team reached its peak in the 1970s to 1980s, which includes the 5th in the 5th National Games of the People’s Republic of China held in 1983, champion of National Men’s Basketball Tournament held in 1984 and 3rd in the 6th National Games of the People’s Republic of China held in 1987. In the 1990s, Jilin Men’s Basketball Team gradually declined. It just got the 7th in the 1995national quarterfinals, and had to depart from the CBA. After great efforts to revitalize, Jilin Team won the Champion in 1996-1997 season in CNBA. In the summer of 1998, the team participated in the CBL and got the third, which failed to enter the CBA. However, in the same year, the Air Force Team quit, and Jilin Team had the opportunity to substitute it and returned to CBA. After two hard seasons of trying to keep the qualification, Jilin Team met their second spring. With the grown-up of local players and more native and foreign players’ joining in, the team strength improved, and for six consecutive seasons, the team entered the quarterfinals.
Team Construction
In 2004, in order to strengthen the team, the club established the first and second reserves. The newly established first reserve has made great achievements, including the 3rd in National Young Men’s Basketball Tournament held in Wanzhou, Chongqing. The construction of reserves for the team has been on its way. Player Ma Yansong has been selected to the National Young Men’s Basketball Team, and Yin Tingyu the National Junior Basketball Team.

Feature
The team is an energetic and young one, with an average age of 23.2 years old and an average height of 1.96meter, which fits the demands of modern basketball games. The team pursues a simple and practical way in playing, pays much attention to the balanced offence and defense, tough style, fluency, and promotes fast and strong impact, which shows a typical northern style team. With the captain of Chinese Men’s Basketball Team, Sun Jun, gradually fades away, many young players, like Wang Bo, Du Jiang, Lu Yan and Zhao Anan, have come to the stage. They have not only absorbed the traditional strength of Jilin Team, but also formed their own styles under the careful training of many foreign coaches.
